Footage shows police officers arriving at the scene of a stabbing attack which left a police officer seriously injured at a Glasgow hotel.

Constable David Whyte was one of six people injured in the attack at the hotel, which is housing asylum seekers.

The suspect was shot dead by police.

Armed police swamped a city centre on Friday (June 26) amid reports of a multiple stabbing at a hotel housing asylum seekers.

One of those stabbed at the incident at the Park Inn Hotel in West George Street, Glasgow, at 1.30pm is believed to be a police officer.

The injuries of those stabbed is currently unknown.

Police Scotland later said "the incident is contained" and a massive emergency services operation could be seen in the city centre.

Human rights activist Mohammad N Asif wrote on Twitter that he had spoken to an asylum seeker staying in the hotel that "many people had been stabbed by knives."

The Police Federation later confirmed that a cop may also have been stabbed.
