PMI blood availability in Padang, West Sumatra Province, Indonesia has thinned since the corona virus pandemic. The reason is because there is fear from donors to go to donate blood because usually every time blood donors tend to have a crowd. Usually before the corona virus pandemic, PMI Padang always has a stock of 1000 more bags of blood every day. The average blood requirement from PMI Padang every day is 150 bags. Despite the pandemic, blood needs from PMI are still the same, 150 bags every day. While since the pandemic, the blood stock at PMI Padang every day is just under 500 bags. Even now there are only 200 blood bags available at PMI. To anticipate this, PMI Padang must pick up the ball to meet blood needs. PMI empowers donors to keep donating their blood for the benefit of many people. Today PMI Padang together with Pemko Padang conduct blood donations which are Civil Servants of the Padang City Trade Office. To prevent covid-19 transmission, PMI has carried out blood donor activities according to the health protocol. Donors go through temperature checking, hand washing and keep blood collection distance away. Then blood sampling officers have also been provided with personal protective equipment (PPE) to anticipate the presence of people without symptoms (OTG) that are not detected.
