A hapless gecko was rescued after it was stuck in a narrow gap in a house for five hours.

Waraphon saw the huge gecko in despair while it struggled to move out of the gap between a pipe and wall in her kitchen in Bangkok, central Thailand.

CB Huai Kwang rescue team rushed to the scene after the woman called them for help.

The volunteers spent only three minutes to pull the tired reptile out of the gap before they placed it inside a sack to be transported back to the wild.

Waraphon said: ''I heard small squeaks from the reptile and followed the sound. It was pitiful so I called for help. I do not want it to die."
