Around twenty passengers onboard a state-run bus were forced to wade or swim from the vehicle after it drove into chest-deep floodwaters beneath an underpass in the Indian state of Gujurat.

Footage filmed in Rajkot on Thursday (August 13th) showed the terrifying scene at Kondel underpass as commuters frantically tried to get to dry land with their bags.

The vehicle was eventually pulled out with the help of a digger.

According to local reports, the area was hit with around 100 millimetres of rainfall in two days.

The driver believed he would be able to make it through the flooded section of the road safely but severely underestimated the depth of the water.

A GSRTC ( Gujarat State run transport corporation) bus with approx 20 passengers had a close shave after it got submerged in water at Kondel underpass in rajkot . The incident happened on 13th August . Passengers came out with their luggages half submerged in water , the bus has to pulled out with the help of JCB .
According to local reports there was around 100 mm of rainfall from last two days . The driver of the bus thought he will pass through the underpass , bit on the middle it got stopped due to heavy water .
