Two hot-air balloons collided in mid-air during a sightseeing tour of volcanic rock formations in Turkey, causing one of them to crash to the ground.

The collision, which took place on May 20 2013, was believed to have been caused when one of the balloons ascended and struck the other's basket, tearing the ascending balloon's fabric.

This video from the Newsflare archive shows one of the balloons falling down to the ground.

Three Brazilian tourists died and a further 22 tourists on board were injured. The tourists were mostly from Brazil, Spain and Argentina according to Abdurrahman Savas, the governor of the Nevsehir province.

Cappadocia is famous for its volcanic rock formations - sometimes referred to as "fairy chimney cones" - and tours using hot-air balloons have been running for more than a decade.
