Thousands of Makassar residents from communities affected by COVID-19 queued at a post office to receive financial assistance from the government.

Each resident will receive 300,000 Indonesian Rupiah (£15.27) each month. There will be 93,082 recipients according to the Secretary and Legal Manager of Makassar Slamet Widodo.

Thousands of residents of Makassar City queue to disburse Cash Social Assistance (Bansos) at the Pettarani Post Office, Jl AP Pettarani, Makassar City, Wednesday, September 2, 2020. This assistance is a program of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo through the Ministry of Social Affairs for small communities affected by Covid-19 .

Thousands of people who come to the post office come from various areas in Makassar City. They consist of the poor. Acceptance of this assistance starts 28 August 2020 to 7 September 2020.

Each resident receives Rp. 300,000 in cash per month, and today is paid directly for two months so that what they receive is Rp. 600,000.

The Secretary and Legal Manager of PT Pos Regional X Makassar, Slamet Widodo, said, "the recipients came from the city of Makassar, Maros, Pangkep with a total of 93,082 recipients. For Pangkep Regency because of its location in cluster 3, which is constrained by transportation, they are not based on the existing schedule, "he said. (*)
