Animal rescue workers managed to rescue three puppies that became trapped inside a pipe after land caved in at a dump yard in western India.

Footage filmed on June 26 shows the rescuers digging up a piece of land to reveal three puppies trapped in a pipe.

Locals alerted the Animal Rescue Society after they heard the mother whimpering and desperately trying to find her babies.

Rescuer Akash Jadhav and his team rushed to the spot and started digging away the mud to try and reach the trapped pups.

Jadhav said: “There was a risk of the earth collapsing on the pups, so we had to be very careful while digging.”

The puppies were placed in a temporary shelter where their mother later joined them.

A stray dog had given birth to three pups inside an abandoned pipe at a dumpyard in Ahmednagar in Western India.

After a heavy rain, a portion of the land caved in, burying the pipe with three pups, when the mother had gone out to find food.

People who lived nearby saw the mother whimpering and desperately trying to find her babies. Realising that the pups were in danger they called Animal Rescue Society.

Rescuer Akash Jadhav and his team rushed to the spot and started the rescue work immediately as the terrified mother kept an anxious watch from a distance. They located the exact spot where the pups were buried and gently removed the earth from the mouth of the pipe.

Akash said: “There was a risk of the earth collapsing on the pups, so we had to be very careful while digging.”

They pulled out the pups and placed them in a temporary shelter. Their wary but happy mother joined them and started feeding her babies.
