Illayaram Sekar, a 25-year-old from Chennai, eastern India, has set a new Guinness World Record by solving SIX Rubik's Cubes underwater in one breath.

The attempt was officially recognized and published by the Guinness World Records on August 25, 2020.

Spending two minutes and 17 seconds, Sekar was able to beat the previous record of five Rubik’s cubes solved.

Footage from September 8 shows Sekar performing his impressive skill, sitting in a clear container of water, and using both hands to complete the task.

The 25-year-old's fascination with Rubik's Cubes started in 2013 when he was in college and has practiced for two years to break this record.

A 25-year-old Illayaram Sekar from Chennai has set a new Guinness World Record by solving six Rubik's cubes underwater while holding his breath. The attempt has been officially recognized as Guinness World Records as a world record.


Using yoga meditation breathing techniques, Illayaram Sekar has achieved the new record for the most Rubik's Cubes solved underwater. Sekar completed the task in just 2 minutes and 17 seconds, following which his record was confirmed.The 25-year-old's fascination with the cube started in 2013 when he was in college. Sekar began solving Rubik’s cubes in 2013 and practiced for two years to break this record.

Illayaram Sekar broke the record previously set by U.S. speed-cuber Anthony Brooks solving 5 Rubik's cubes underwater in 2014. It took Sekar one and a half years of dedicated practice to break the existing record which has been in the books for the last 6 years. Sekar also holds three more Guinness world records for solving maximum Rubic cubes on a Bicycle and hanging upside down.
