Protesters storm Kyrgyzstan government buildings in wake of contentious election
Police and protesters clashed in Bishkek after the preliminary result of the Sunday election was known on Monday, October 5. Some protesters stormed government buildings in the capital on early Tuesday and freed former president Almazbek Atambayev from custody.
The protesters called for a re-run of the election alleging vote-buying.
