This is the heartwarming moment a group of hungry wasps drank honey from a man's palm.

Devon Henderson was at the back of his house when he saw the yellow jacket hornets circling like they were looking for food.

He poured honey in his hand and offered it to the insects, which the friendly wasps accepted in Ottawa in Ontario, Canada, on September 8.

Devon said: “I happily put some honey in the palm of my hand to help the starving insects out. I stood perfectly still and avoided breathing directly on them as they do not like carbon dioxide.”

The insect enthusiast has been rescuing insects foraging during spring and early summer for four years.

Yellowjacket nests usually last for only one season, dying off in winter. The nest is started by a single queen, called the "foundress."
