Petrol stations operating under the Total brand are deserted in Islamabad, Pakistan, amid a widespread boycott of French products.

Staff, otherwise standing around with nothing to do, tried to stop filming at one petrol station.

Elsewhere in the city there are the posters of French President Emmanuel Macron's face with the image of a footprint superimposed on it, and others asking people to stop buying French products. These were put up by a religious political party.

Many in the mainly Muslim country are angry at French President Emmanuel Macron's vigorous defence of the publication of cartoons depicting the Muslim prophet Mohammed, on free speech grounds.
