A heartwarming video has emerged from the US of a soldier being welcomed home from a tour in Afghanistan by his dog.

In the footage, captured by the soldier’s wife at their home in Kansas, the black and white spotted Great Dane, named ‘Zeus’, can be seen cuddling up to his owner and running in circles.

“My husband came home after a tour in Afghanistan and our lazy Great Dane - who usually hates to get off of his bed for anything - totally flipped when her heard my husband come through the door” the filmer later wrote online.

“I've never seen him so happy - not even the time I fed him deer sausage!” she added.

Although the video was captured in August 2013, it has only recently surfaced online.
