This is the heartwarming moment a young woman used her raincoat to shield a stray cat from the rain.

Risti Anisa, 24, stood in front of the cat and extends her yellow coat so the feline can eat its food properly during a storm in the Surakarta City of central Java, Indonesia on November 3.

The animal lover first saw the stray soaked and shivering while trying to shelter itself under parked cars.

She then bought some cat food at the nearby store and gave it to the cat before sharing her raincoat with it under the rain.

Risti said: "At that time I found a stray cat that looked hungry on Jalan Slamet Riyadi. I happened to have time to buy cat food and I gave it a little.

"The cat had just eaten a little, suddenly it was raining. I couldn't do anything but protect it from the rain."

At first, the cat did not want to eat because it appeared afraid, but it eventually tasted the food and finished it in almost ten minutes.

Risti added: "Not far from that location there are hangout places and offices. He might not eat and instead run away because of the people.''

The Good Samaritan waited for the stray to finish its food before she carried it under a shade when the rain started to pour harder.
