Aerial Lab Industries (A.L.I.) Technologies Inc., a Tokyo-based startup developing small unmanned aerial vehicles, unveiled a test of their hoverbike to the press on Monday (March 25).

The video by peeder®︎/ALI technologies shows the hoverbike being tested at a development test centre in Ota City, Tokyo. The hoverbike manoeuvres in a constricted space, hovering approximately 10 centimetres off the ground.

A.L.I. told the press that it aims to launch a mass-market hoverbike to the public in 2022 at a price of around 3 million Japanese yen (USD 28,000).

Chief Executive Officer Shuhei Komatsu said that they are launching the hoverbike initially and intend to launch "flying cars" eventually. He also hopes that the hoverbikes will be permitted for use on public roads in Japan.
