Thousands of protesters took to the streets of Lyon and other cities in France on Saturday (28 November) against a draft security law.

Footage showed tear gas being used at the protest in Lyon.

It's proponents say the security law would only ban images of on-duty police officers that aimed to harm the officers. But opponents argue it could also ban legitimate filming and photography.

The protests were given added impetus by footage that emerged last week of French police brutally beating and tear gassing Black music producer Michel Zeclerr on November 21.

Some 46,000 people marched in Paris and 133,000 in total nationwide, in cities including Bordeaux, Rennes, and Lyon.
