An unusual cold snap in Spain has seen parts of the country covered in snow and temperatures plummeting to -25C (-13F).

Footage from January 12 shows the capital Madrid blanketed with snow as residents enjoy the freak conditions.

The lowest temperatures were recorded in Molina de Aragón and Teruel, which is also nicknamed "Spanish Siberia."

Officials have warned the elderly to stay at home and many roads are too dangerous for cars.

At least seven people have died due to the weather, including two homeless people in Barcelona.
