The death of a 23-year-old Black man in police custody has sparked protests in Brussels, Belgium.

Footage filmed on January 13 shows dozens of taking to the streets and police firing water cannon.

The man has been identified as Ibrahima B. who died an hour after being arrested, according to local reports.

Clashes have been reported during protests that are taking place in central Brussels Jan. 13. The purpose of the demonstration was to denounce the recent death of an individual in police custody. His name was Ibrahima, he was hezrgly guy from 23 years old. Around 400 activists initially gathered outside the police station on Rue de Brabant during the afternoon; related protests and clashes have also been reported at Place du Nord and Place Liedts. Protest started as a peaceful demonstration, but then there was violence. Protesters threw projectiles, while the police used tear gas to disperse the crowd, which gathered outside a police station near Gare du Nord.
