This was the moment a four-foot-long cobra was rescued from the body and engine of a motorbike in eastern India's Bhubaneswar on Janaury 16.

Footage shows the serpent being extracted with the help of two volunteers after bike owner Bimal Kumar Sahu called the local snake helpline.

Bimal was said to have chased the snake from inside his house before it latched onto the body of the bike.

He then called the experts in and volunteer Biranchi Naryan Acharjya raced to the scene.

Biranchi was able to remove the stubborn snake in front of a crowd and later releasing it into the wild.

A cobra entered the house of a man on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar in eastern India on January 16.

The man chased the four-feet-long cobra out of his house and it then decided to take refuge inside a bike parked nearby.

The bike owner Bimal Kumar Sahu desperately called Snake Helpline and a volunteer Biranchi Naryan Acharjya went to the spot. Though the snake stubbornly latched on to the bike, he successfully pulled it out from underneath the side panel of the bike.

The snake was released in its natural habitat later.
