British tourist on holiday in KwaZulu-Natal, site of the famous Anglo-Boer War, witnessed a heartbreaking realities of life in the wild. After witnessing an incredible scene of two dominant male lions hunting a female Wildebeest, the holiday goers soon noticed the faint calls coming from the thick bush. Out popped a baby wildebeest that had evidently just lost its mother and all the commotion, the safety of the herd. The helpless baby could only have been a couple of days old and completely reliant on its mother for food and protection. The sad calls to its mother alerted the 450+ pound males to its presence in the bush and they soon turned their attention to this helpless baby. A dangerous game of Lion and Wildebeest ensued over the next half an hour with the baby coming perilously close to being the next victim of the pride.

Gladly for all, the young calf, umbilical chord still attached, managed to temporarily avoid an unpleasant fate and ran off into the bush to find its kin. Chances for the youngster making it through the evening will be very slim if it doesn't find safety.
