An amusing video has emerged of a mother's reaction after her daughter recorded herself face-planting while attempting a high-kick.

The video, captured at a home in Philadelphia, US earlier this month, shows the initially sympathetic mum reacting with keen interest after her 12 year-old daughter revealed that the accident had been captured on video.

"I used to videotape myself practicing my high kicks,” the girl later wrote online.

“One day, my mismatched slippery socks caused me to faceplant. Badly. After crying and wailing for my mother, she comes downstairs, only to be incredibly excited when she realizes it has been caught on film."
