This was the moment a "naive" 18-year-old from Northamptonshire in the UK got a shock after using a transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) machine.

Footage shows the young man with the machine's electric pads wired to his chest while his parents laugh in the background as they send volts of pain into him.

The NHS describes a TENS machine as: "A small, battery-operated device that has leads connected to sticky pads called electrodes.

"You attach the pads directly to your skin.

"When the machine is switched on, small electrical impulses are delivered to the affected area of your body, which you feel as a tingling sensation."

The device is used to relieve pain as it deters signals from the spinal cord and the brain while releasing endorphins.
