Several thousand people were said to have rallied outside President Vladimir Zelensky's office in Kyiv on February 23 after activist Serhiy Sternenko was jailed for seven years.

Footage shows the large protest in the Ukrainian capital where demonstrators were demanding the release of Sternenko.

The protesters were heard chanting "freedom for patriots" and "one united, free Ukraine."

Sternenko was sentenced to seven years and three months in prison and had half of his possessions confiscated on a charge of abduction and illegal possession of arms.

The Primorsky district court of Odesa on Tuesday found Sternenko guilty of kidnapping and sentenced him to seven years in prison with the confiscation of half of his property. On Tuesday evening, several thousand people came to the office of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to demand the release of Sternenko.
During the action, people shouted: "Freedom for patriots", "One United, Free Ukraine" and " Sternenko Will"
