The Sheppey Cliffs have suffered a lot of erosion over the winter period following storms & months of heavy rain putting holiday & residential homes at serious risk. A local campaigin action group has repeatedly called for the cliffs to be protected, but authorities have refused to protect the cliffs at Eastchurch, and even stopped the residents attempting to 'shore up' the cliffs themselves.

However, only a few miles east further down the coast at Shellness, a large rock armour is currently being installed which is fronting farmland, much to the ire of the cliff top homes residents who could lose their homes at any moment, following the last of one property last year,
