Timelapse footage has emerged of a huge building fire in Cape Town, South Africa on Thursday.

The cause of the fire remains unknown but it comes alongside large-scale wildfires in the area.

According to local reports the office fire is now under control after burning for several hours.

Nearby premises including a school were evacuated and it left a gaping hole in the roof where the blaze started.

A witness told local news outlet EWN: "This is unreal scenes here, would you believe that the whole building is on fire. There are yellow flames on the roof.

"The whole building has been evacuated. There are now fire trucks, everyone is standing here on the main road. It’s an absolute horror show, everything is on fire.”
