Roosters protect your property including the hens and your family. Big advantages to having them around so why am I forced to get rid of my handsome, gentle giant rooster Nugget ? Chickens if kept properly are eco friendly solutions to keeping your garden and our neighbourhoods clean as they eat absolutely everything. They are pest controllers, consuming small rodents, dead animals & invasive insects like tics, Japanese beetles, grubs, carpenter ants to name a few. They along with hens control weeds in your garden, fertilizes lawns & vegetable patches and are loving souls . I couldn't have survived lockdown without my therapy chickens. Now that we have eggs it is an added bonus but with or without them chickens are the ideal pet for any household wanting to become more self sufficient. As far as the no crow collar for Rooster Nugget it reduces his volume by half and cannot be heard above a car, leaf blower, children playing or laughter. We just need to change our ways . Chicken license, city controls and a positive approach will be the best solution to a growing trend of responsible chicken enthusiasts.
