After a brutal car accident left Jimmy with debilitating neurological symptoms and trying to deal with his condition with a litany of powerful pharmaceuticals, this Essex, England dad finally found relief using cannabis in this clip from March 30.

"On 1 June 2018, I was driving home from work, when my car was hit at [great] speed at a junction by another driver. I was severely injured and the head trauma I suffered left me with chronic neurological conditions, functional neurological disorder, Tourette’s disorder, and fibromyalgia," Jimmy tells Newsflare.

"Overnight I went from a healthy, 29-year-old dad, to being unable to walk or communicate properly and suffering dozens of fits and seizures a day. I was prescribed ‘hundreds of pills’ to manage my symptoms including Morphine, Risperidone, Tramadol, Diazepam, Codeine, Lorazepam and Sertraline, which left me a vegetable."

After a friend suggested cannabis, he was unable to afford the £1,400 price tag from a prescription and turned to the black market, although the clip shows the use of legally procured cannabis.

"I’m accessing the prescription via subsidies for people with Tourette’s under project 2021 being run by drug science, I am not able to access on the NHS at the moment," Jimmy said.

Medicinal cannabis, sometimes referred to as medical cannabis or medical marijuana, is made of the Cannabis sativa or Cannabis indica varieties. Medicinal cannabis may come in the form of a pill, oil, nasal spray or other forms of cannabis plant extract. An average cannabis plant contains more than 400 chemicals; 120 of them are cannabinoids, such as cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Common approved medications contain just one or two cannabis compounds. Treatment with cannabis is difficult to classify and study due to the high amount of active chemicals.

The legalisation followed the cases of Billy Caldwell, aged 12, and Alfie Dingley, aged 6, who had severe epilepsy. Cannabis significantly improved their health condition, but they couldn't get the treatment under UK law, getting public attention to the case

The clinical effectiveness of CBD on a range of neurological disorders is well documented, but not thoroughly researched.
