Thousands of people gathered in Bois de la Cambre in Brussels, in defiance of lockdown, for a 'festival' that was an April Fools prank.

Police moved in to break up the crowd, later using water cannons against some of them.

'La Boum' was a made-up festival advertised on social media as an April Fools joke.

Both the organisers and the authorities announced that it was not real, in advance.

There were a number of arrests.
