6.8 earthquake rocks Japan
On May 1, a strong magnitude 6.8 earthquake jolted Miyagi and neighboring prefectures in northern Japan at 10:27 a.m.
The epicenter of the quake was off the coast of Miyagi prefecture and had a seismic intensity of over 5 in various parts of the prefecture. No tsunami alert was issued for this earthquake.
