Environmental activists who set up a 'tree protection' camp three weeks' ago lost their battle to save dozens of mature trees in York Gardens, south west London (May 14).
Baliffs are seen tearing the protesters' banner as they stood in the road and snapping a man's tripod.

Campaigners who say over 400 trees have been or are scheduled to be cut down in a regeneration joint venture between Wandsworth Council and developer Taylor Wimpey at York Gardens, close to the Winstanley Estate where members of music group So Solid Crew were raised.

The area in recent years is undergoing a transformation with new largely luxury private riverside developments being built.
Wandsworth Council say the homes are urgently needed as existing accommodation is in bad condition and overcrowded.
However activists argue the overwhelming majority of the new homes will be for private sale and the council have neglected to publish an ecological report, necessary for the felling of trees to take place.
Evidence of bats in the area have been obtained by the protesters.
