On Canada day, July 1, the city of Kamloops after a record breaking heat wave all week burst in the flames from a very powerful thunderstorm. Multiple fires surrounding the city also began to burn. The most prominent of them is featured in this video. Evacuation orders were given for some Valley view residence and residence freed at 10 PM in the evening, unsure if the property would be set ablaze. This unusual fire activity came at the heels of a record-setting week with temperatures up to 49°C, the all-time record for the area. This is all made more dramatic by the sparks lake fire just 20 km north west of the city which has grown to Nearly 40,000 ha in a matter of days and has destroyed a number of farms and homes.
