Floodwaters tore through the streets of Weisweiler, Germany, on Thursday 15 July.

At least 160 people have died in Germany, Belgium and other parts of north-western continental Europe, following unprecedented rainfall.

The worst of the flooding has been in the states of Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia, where buildings and cars have been washed away.

Scientists have linked the disaster to climate change.
