Shocked to find out Dusty Hill died today in his sleep. ZZ top were the last original trio still working, after 51 years together. No trio was together longer. This is a two song tribute to him from my street show. Cheap sunglasses and La Grange. Dusty was a solid bassist who created many memorable and funky lines, and he was also a great singer that didn't get enough time at the mic.

I bought my first ZZ top album in 1979. Deguello. Remember buying it on my lunch break from school, then listening to it in school on the library record player. Cheap sunglasses was probably my first exposure to the band, as it was played on the radio a lot in 1979. After that album, I got all the older ZZ albums and learned most of the songs. They were definitely one of my big guitar influences as a teenager. I saw them once live, in 1985, opening for Deep Purple. RIP Dusty HIll! Will Billy keep touring as ZZ top, or is this the end of the band?
