This is the moment the Dixie Fire ripped through Plumas County in California.

Footage shows flames razing trees near a forest in Taylorsville while thick smoke covered the horizon on August 2 evening. Firefighter helicopters were also seen responding to the emergency.

Resident Deborah Housen said: ‘They just let residents back in yesterday afternoon following a 10-day mandatory evacuation. We live in Taylorsville and returned home yesterday after being evacuated for 10 days as well. If we must, we’ll leave again.’

Mandatory evacuation orders have been issued by the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office after fire activity once again picked up due to drier weather conditions on Monday, August 2. Nearly 250,000 acres of land have been burned by the Dixie Fire, which is the 11th largest California wildfire recorded in history.
