A group of storm chasers were left in awe as a multiple-vortex tornado passed just in front of their vehicle in Shell Rock, Iowa.

Andrew Sytsma filmed the multiple-vortex tornado as it caused significant damage to a rural farming community near Waverly.

He said: "On July 14, I departed from Illinois to chase a volatile situation in Iowa. I was initially targeting the central storm near Stanhope but as I was monitoring a developing storm to the north, I noticed rotation.

"I targeted the northern cell and as I approached it, the storm started to show key signs of a prolific tornado producer.

"I followed it east a few miles as I approached Shell Rock. I turned north to get closer to the circulation and as I approached, it spawned a multiple-vortex tornado that I would get within 100 yards of."

'Despite how dangerous it is, tornado chasing is one fascinating activity and this dramatic footage is proof of the same.
