A driver was shocked after finding an injured snake stuck under his car.

Somphon Nilakul, 42, was checking the engine of his car before driving out when he noticed the reptile struggling to move inside in Phitsanulok province, Thailand.

As the animal appeared tangled inside and could not move properly, Somphon took his car to a nearby mechanic for help so they could take it out.

Upon arriving at the garage, repairmen had to remove parts of the car before they were able to free the creature with the help of an animal rescuer.

Somphon said: ‘I rarely use this car and often leave it parked in front of my house so I had a habit of checking the engine before driving it.

‘When I saw the snake thought it was some kind of cable related to the engine, hanging from it, but when I noticed it, it was able to slither. I realised when it moved that it wasn’t really the engine cable but a thin snake that was stuck inside.’

After almost an hour, the snake catcher was able to pull the 4ft-long reptile out of the vehicle. It was injured after days of being trapped and trying to free itself so the rescuer had to take it back to their facility to recover.

The rescue volunteer said: ‘It might have been injured and sluggish due to heat from the car’s engine. We will provide treatment and then release it later to the wild.’

The car owner thanked the rescuer and had his car repaired after the operation in the garage.
