Firefighters are wrapping fire-resistant blankets around ancient trees as blazes threaten California's world-famous Sequoia National Park.

Trees including General Sherman, the largest in the world, have been wrapped with aluminium foil to protect them.

Here, video shows fire crews battling the growing Paradise Fire in the KNP Complex near the Sequoia National Park. The video was captured along Generals Highway on the north side of Paradise on September 15 at about 15:00 local time.

The KNP Complex fires composed of the Paradise Fire and Colony Fire prompted evacuations and shutdown of the national park. Fire crews tackled the fires from the air due to rugged terrain.
