Drivers honked their horns as the queue to this Tesco Esso petrol station in Tolworth, southwest London, brought traffic chaos to surrounding roads on Tuesday evening (September 28).

One woman caught in the queue could be heard shouting "it's mad!" Further behind her, a roundabout kept being blocked by the volume of vehicles.

Despite UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson saying that the fuel supply situation in Britain is improving, scenes at petrol forecourts across the country continued to be abnormal.

Earlier on Tuesday, Johnson had made his first public comments about the fuel crisis. "I would just urge everyone to go about their business in the normal way and fill up when you need it," he was reported as saying by the BBC.
