RESTRICTION SUMMARY: Gaza - 28 September 2021. Palestinian workers use a bulldozer to remove the rubbles of al-Jawhara tower which was hit by Israeli strikes during the recent 11-day conflict between Israel and Hamas on May, in Gaza city.

STORYLINE:

The Ministry of Public Works and Housing in the Gaza Strip announced Sept. 17 that the reconstruction process would kick off in early October.

The tower was bombed with more than five missiles. The bases were totally destroyed and it is impossible, according to local experts, for it to be repaired or restored.

The first phase of a reconstruction plan, which is funded by Egypt, has kicked off in the besieged Gaza Strip, a Palestinian official announced on Thursday.

"Egyptian construction vehicles and engineers have immediately started working on the first phase of reconstructing what had been destroyed during the last wave of tension in the Gaza Strip," said Naji Sarhan, an official from the Hamas-run Ministry of Public Works and Housing.

Last week, a group of Egyptian engineers arrived in the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing point and will stay in the territory for two weeks to observe and finalize other reconstruction projects.

Meanwhile, Hazem Qassem, Hamas spokesman in Gaza, told reporters that several Egyptian delegations will arrive in the Gaza Strip in the coming days and weeks to review the reconstruction plan.
