Polar research ship RRS Sir David Attenborough was seen arriving on the Thames for the first time at midday on Wednesday (October 27) from Sheerness in Kent.

The public will be able to visit the vessel in London before it embarks to Antarctica for the next 25 years.

The public originally voted to call the vessel Boaty McBoatface - this name was given to a remotely controlled submarine carried onboard instead.

The ship is one of the most advanced in the world costing £200 million.
