An iPhone 6s exploded as a repairman went to change the device's battery in eastern China.

Video filmed in the city of Suzhou in Jiangsu Province on October 24 shows a huge ball of fire suddenly bursting out of an iPhone when a repairman used a heat gun to soften the glue at the bottom of the battery.

The scared customer ran out of the shop immediately. While the repairman tried to blow the fire out before using the handle of a brush to push the battery to the floor.

According to the repairman named Guo, since the iPhone's battery swelled, the customer took the phone to his shop to change the battery.

As the glue at the back of the battery stuck it to the phone, he planned to use a heat gun to soften the glue before removing the battery. However, he may have used the heat gun for a long time causing sparks to come out of the battery.

Fortunately, only the battery was burnt. No one was injured.

Guo said he ran the repair shop for 10 years and similar incidents have happened three times.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
