'Dead mermaids’ from activist group Ocean Rebellion lie on the ground outside the Hydro, Glasgow's COP 26 climate change conference venue.

The Ocean Rebellion activist group is calling on the world leaders to keep the oceans alive by banning the highly environmentally destructive practice of bottom trawling, which is a key driver of overfishing.

The group has claimed that the bottom trawling industry releases 159 million tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere each year and is a significant contributor to global carbon dioxide emissions.

The footage was filmed on October 31.
