This is the scary moment a wild monitor lizard rampaged through a family’s home while a woman was lying on the ground sleeping.

The grandmother and grandfather were taking an afternoon nap while the kids watched TV in their home in Bangkok on November 2. However, while the grandparents were sound asleep, a wild monitor lizard snuck into their house through the open front door.

Footage shows how five-year-old schoolgirl, Eve, screamed when she saw the lizard scurrying across the tiled floor just inches from the woman. The sound woke both her grandparents up.

The elders checked their living room CCTV video and were shocked to see the creature walking through their property while they slept.

The grandfather, Yodlop Khempim, said: ‘At first I thought Eve was simply crying, but when we checked the CCTV, I couldn’t believe what I was watching.

‘My house is next to a swamp so I think the monitor lizard went through my house to get access to the water.’

Asian water monitor lizards live in canals and ponds in large cities in Thailand where they feed on fish, snakes, frogs and scraps of food left by humans.

They are aggressive when threatened and have a mildly venomous bite which sometimes carries harmful bacteria.
