An anti-Asian hate rally was held in London's Chinatown on November 27l

The event called "No to New Cold War - Stop Racism -Stop Asian Hate" invited a variety of guests to speak on the topic of the demonisation of China in Western media causing hate crimes against East Asian and South East Asian in Britain and the US. In Britain these crimes rose by 300% during the pandemic.

Hong Kong pro-democracy activists attended in a counter-protest, accusing what they viewed as the pro-Beijing organisers of hypocrisy, ignoring human rights abuses in China whilst attempting to call out racism in the West.

The rally was held in the middle of Chinatown, making for a chaotic scene as pro-Beijing and pro-Hong Kong activists heckled each other with restaurant diners attempting to pass through, until the rally ended and a confrontation occurred, sparking off a mass brawl.

Several were injured and one arrest was made.
Photos later on social media showed metal rods used as weapons discarded in a public litter bin.
