ACCIDENT / FAIL: Mercedes driver spins out the moped rider and drives off (Dashcam Video)
While driving through Xizhi District, a moped rider skips through a red light to turn right. All of a sudden the Mercedes driver hits the back of the rider’s tires causing him to spin out and hit the curb. The driver thought it would be a good idea to drive off as if nothing happened. By law, a failure to stop or report an accident is a criminal offence in any case where injury or damage has been caused. The driver is required to stop at the scene and provide their name and address and that of the owner of the vehicle. Failure to stop is categorised as a summary offence.
