Climate activists stopped busses and snarled traffic in central London with a protest on Saturday 11 December.

Launched by the Youth Climate Strike, climate activists lined up with banners across a main road in the Piccadilly Circus area.

The area is popular with people doing Christmas shopping and was very busy at the time.

They forced busses to stop, snarling up central London's public transport, even though public transport is far more environmentally friendly than cars.

Using a loudspeaker, the activists called out: "No Christmas on a dead planet!"

Youth Climate Strike is a group comprising of young people angry at what they say is the government's inaction in relation to climate change.

They organise attention-getting demonstrations that sometimes cause disruption.
