A team of medics at Vetzone in Amman, Jordan, worked to save the life of a street puppy that had a sizeable abscess on his neck.

Dr. Ala Shehadeh is the 45-year-old veterinarian who worked to save the puppy drained the huge abscess. He says: "The puppy was spotted by animal rescuers in an Amman neighbourhood.

"They brought him in with this bulging neck legion. We performed an examination and the procedure, evacuating the pus."

The video was posted to the Vetzone Pet Health Center TikTok and received nearly 11 million views from horrified and curious users.

Assisting in the gory procedure was Dr Samer Al Akhras, who worked with Dr Shehadeh to leave the puppy feeling much lighter afterwards.

Dr Shehadeh says: "The puppy is about 12 weeks of age and is a local breed called the Canaan, commonly found in Amman and the Middle East. These dogs are often subject to aspects of abuse."

The puppy was also given antibiotics and bandaged up; the vet practice has confirmed that the puppy is on the mend.
