Thousands greet the arrival of 2022 in Parliament Square to the chimes of Big Ben
Thousands descended on Parliament Square to greet the arrival of 2022 in central London. The Shard countdown is followed by the Big Ben chimes that can be hardly heard because of the incredible traffic noice. There are no fireworks due to the pandemic and there is a lot of chaos around with rickshaws and cars stuck outside Westminster station. Parliament Christmas tree is shining in New Palace Yard outside the Elizabeth Tower - the home of Big Ben.
