Hundreds of voters in the Indian state of Gujarat were confused in a recent election and ended up stamping the table in the polling station rather than the ballot paper.

According to local media, 198 residents of Sahda village in Dahod district misinterpreted their preferred candidate's table symbol on the ballot paper as an instruction to stamp the actual furniture rather than the box next to her name.

The confused voters then dropped their blank ballots into the box.

To make matters worse, the aspiring politician, Kasmaben Garva, ended up losing the December 26 vote by 31 ballots.

A bizzare incident has came during a local body polls election In the state of gujrat , the incident happened in Sahda village of Dahod district , where during voting around 200 voters stamped there vote on a table instead of the election symbol on a balot paper which was also a table sign .
Kasmaben garva who was fighting for a position of sarpanch had table as her election symbol , she appealed to her voters to vote on table sign on voting day . But due to lack of awareness 198 voters stamped on table and put the empty vote paper in ballot box . Due to this 198 ballot papers counted invalid .
Kasmaben had to lose this election with her competitor shakuntala Ben from 31 votes only .
The election counting was held on 26th December
