This woman who lives next door to the apartment block that was ravaged by a fire that left 19 dead broke down in tears during an interview on January 9.

The emotional woman said she heard sirens pass her house and she only found out about the blaze after her friend rang her.

"One of my friends called me, I thought it was a joke, 'there's a fire on 181st.'

"I said 'down the street from where I used to live? Oh my god, I know people that live there'."

She also mentioned that she had survived a fire and that she "knows what it's like."
