This is the hilarious moment a smart dog dribbled a basketball like a pro - earning himself the nickname Michael Paw-dan.

The adorable Aspin pooch - short for 'asong Pinoy' or mixed-breed dogs with no pedigree - was seen approaching his owner who was playing with a ball before jumping up to catch it in front of their home in Quezon City in Manila, the Philippines on January 23.

Footage shows the furry pet named Waldo eyeing the ball and making it bounce using his front limbs like he was doing a rebound.

The pet owner's girlfriend Joylyn Sisa who filmed the duo said: 'Waldo loved to play with the basketball. I think he learned to do that by watching. He was such an energetic and smart dog.'

Joylyn joked that the pooch should be nicknamed after the NBA star Michael Jordan, who played for the Chicago Bulls.
